📝 Behind the Song

The lyrics for “Wild and Free in Eden” were written as a tapestry of local memory: whaling tales, salt-crusted fingers, and barefoot evenings at the water’s edge. The song builds across four verses and a final, soaring chorus, blending folk ballad tradition with cinematic structure and heartfelt duet vocals.

With gratitude to Country, community, and the coast.

I rise with the wind on the wings of dawn,
Looking down where the gum trees yawn.
From Twofold Bay to the ocean wide,
Eden’s heart beats with the tide.
Fishing boats drift in morning gold,
Casting dreams in waters cold.
And every wave that meets the shore
Sings a song that I’ve heard before.

Wild and free in Eden, where the sea and sky collide,
Where the forest meets the shoreline, and the past walks at your side.
From the oyster beds to the river bends, it’s where I’m meant to be,
Living wild and free in Eden, with the ocean calling me.

Down where the tide lays pearls in sand,
The oyster farmer knows this land.
Shucking stories by the dockside light,
Of storms they’ve braved and stars at night.
Kids on the jetty, lines in hand,
Crabs in buckets, salt in sand.
Old men talk of whaling days,
Their voices lost in the ocean haze.

Wild and free in Eden, where the sea and sky collide,
Where the forest meets the shoreline, and the past walks at your side.
From the oyster beds to the river bends, it’s where I’m meant to be,
Living wild and free in Eden, with the ocean calling me.

Beneath me now, the sailboats glide,
Sketching stories across the tide.
Lakes and lagoons with water clear,
Reflect the sky like a polished mirror.
Red earth trails through the bushland deep,
Where secrets of the Yuin sleep.
History hums in the granite stones,
This sacred place, it sings in bones.

Wild and free in Eden, where the sea and sky collide,
Where the forest meets the shoreline, and the past walks at your side.
From the oyster beds to the river bends, it’s where I’m meant to be,
Living wild and free in Eden, with the ocean calling me.

And when the dusk sets fire to sea,
And the currawong sings in the tree,
I land where the winds no longer roam—
A soul returned, a heart come home.
Barefoot steps on beaches wide,
And memories carved by the turning tide,
Eden lives in every breath,
A wild place I’ll keep ‘til death.

Wild and free in Eden, where the sea and sky collide,
Where the forest meets the shoreline, and the past walks at your side.
From the oyster beds to the river bends, it’s where I’m meant to be,
Living wild and free in Eden, with the ocean calling me.
